We are a social impact venture keen on building and popularising an ancient traditional handicraft - Kheta. Join us in our journey of empowering the women of the Shershahbadi community in Kishanganj, Bihar, financially and become a part of it by experiencing Kheta!
A reversible hand-embroidery made by the women from the Shershahbadi community in Kishanganj, Bihar. This is an intricate embroidery made through geometrical and analytical understanding that is visualized through the traditional patterns of Kheta.
Kheta represents a deep connection to nature visualized in its patterns made by women of the Shershahbadi community. It replicates designs from ripples in water, land patterns, flowers, make-shift materials to make a house, to much more.
Using only a needle and thread, the shershabadi women create these beautiful textiles, generally used as a blanket, interior textile design, etc. Heavily influenced by observations of daily living, communication, farming activities, and vernacular architecture, the textile is embroidered with motifs that are delicate, geometric, densely, patterned and vibrant in colors.
